The Chicago History Museum (CHM) works hard to
acknowledge and celebrate its many donors. To help the institution celebrate a
family who has made significant donations, Balance Studios helped re-imagine an
alcove dedicated to the Pritzker family, by creating an easy-to-update Pritzker
Family Touch-Screen Application.
The touchscreen application showcases the family
in two ways. First, it shows the Pritzker family tree. The interesting archive
displays the complex listing of all of the Pritzkers, their spouses, and
children. The interesting interactive includes images, short biographies, and
military history of each family member.
The application also features an extensive
timeline that highlights the Pritzker family's immigration to Chicago and
allows guests to explore the family's history in relation to events going on in
Chicago, the United States, and the World at various times. The
timeline/feature links directly to the family tree through an extensive tagging
system so users can go back and forth between the two interesting applications.
Balance developed a custom content management system (CMS), so CHM administrators can easily update the timeline, connect
family members to events, and add new Pritzker family members to the tree with
biographies and images as the family grows. The creative team also ensured that
the informational, wall-mounted display was ADA compliant, so all guests can
access and experience the interesting touchscreen application.
