Railroaders: Jack Delano's Homefront Photography Kiosk

Education | Entertainment | Museum

What was a day in the life of a railroad conductor during wartime? The Chicago History Museum wanted to showcase this in their exhibit featuring Jack Delano’s photos of Indiana Harbor Belt conductor, Daniel Sinise and his family. Delano’s images, taken between 1942 and 1943, tell a story of a regular railroad family.

Balance Studios’ love of storytelling and the desire to create an amazing end-user experience resulted in a digital photography photo album on a touchscreen kiosk. The photo album transports visitors to Delano’s time with the vintage feel of a scrapbook from the 40s. The touchscreen aspect allows visitors the ability to go through the albums at their own pace, while easily navigating to the help and home areas.
