Developing a sports technology suite that uses sensor-based technology to quantify and monitor performance, Impellia reached out to Balance Studios--known for understanding
the latest in technology, digital visualization, full corporate and
product visual brand development--to create an augmented reality (AR)
application to display how the Impellia suite can help both athletes and sports medicine professionals. Developed with former NFL quarterback, Charlie Batch, Impellia
emphasizes the importance of accurate sports medicine data analytics to
prevent sports injuries and aid in performance enhancement.
In the AR demonstration, users tap a preferred technology: JROMS, Pivot, Strikefoot, Feul Fwd, Fitwon, or Prairi
to view the performance metrics of a particular athlete. For example,
if selecting JROMS, the avatar matching the athlete's movement is shown
performing a task, such as jumping or doing squats. The performance
metrics, taken using sensor-based technology, show if the athlete is
performing the movement with the incorrect form or if they are at risk
of injury. The user can then view the proper form to decrease the risk
of getting hurt. In real time, trainers view
easy-to-understand data visualization of an athlete's performance and
can customize workout programs to match an individual's needs.
With increased concern and awareness of the long-term effects of sports injuries and rehabilitation, this software development works to prevent career-ending injuries and provide vital metrics to keep athletes at the top of their games.
