How do you make a bounce house birthday party even more fun? Add the ultimate–virtual–party favor. National family entertainment franchise, BounceU, wanted to take their parties to the next level. Already rated one of Parents Magazine's Best Birthday Party Places for kids, BounceU sought to expand guests’ experiences and offer a new and exciting form of interactive gaming. The creative team at Balance was happy to join the party.  

Taking BounceU's tagline, “Where Birthdays Come to Life!” as inspiration, Balance used their proprietary platform, Augmented ARtwork, to design and develop ColorMation, an augmented reality platform where guests use their own creative coloring skills. The app features six unique experiences to excite kids on-site and at home.

Guests at BounceU color the giant coloring card. Then, using the ColorMation app, the interaction begins. Delighted users watch their creation come to life, turning their 2D images into full 3D animation. Kids can tap to fire confetti cannons and light off fireworks as the animated characters wish the birthday boy or girl a happy birthday. For party-goers who do not color a card, a pre-colored animation features the same interactivity.

BounceU offers five coloring pages for guests to take home, each including a BounceU character that serves as the image target, activating different animations and games from the ColorMation app. The characters spring to life and interact with the app users.

The Gift lets users select awesome dances for the animated character. 

The Cupcake throws globs of frosting wherever the user taps. 

The Hats challenge users to guess which of them hides a ball. 

The Cake throws confetti bombs in the air at the user's direction. 

The Candle disappears and reappears, taunting the user to throw rings around him.  

The app also offers a fully-animated, 3D DJ Mode, letting users have their own BounceU dance party and share pictures of themselves with the BounceU characters on social media. The Augmented ARtwork and ColorMation App means the party never has to end.
