When the Center of Science and Industry was looking for a fun and engaging way to explore the human skeleton for their Little Kidspace's
Clinic, the creative team at Balance was happy to come out to play. The
team designed and developed the Skeleton Mirror Experience, a fun way
for kids to see “their” skeletons dancing and mirroring every movement
they make.
Utilizing
a combination of volumetric augmented reality (AR), sensor technology, and
motion tracking, the fun begins when a player walks within the ARena™ sensor technology play arena. The application detects the individual's
height and selects one of three pre-created skeleton sizes that best
fits the visitor's size.
As the user moves, “their” on-screen skeleton
mirrors every action. To add to the interactive fun, graphics on the
floor prompt participants to move, enabling the image to change between a
bone skeleton, which appears on the screen when guests are on one of
the indicated spots marked on the floor, to an X-ray type of image, that
is prompted when users choose the second indicated floor location.
