PRESS RELEASE: Green Bay Production Company President Follows Mel Gibson’s Footsteps at the 2005 Unity Awards

Monday, November 28th, 2005

Green Bay, November 17, 2005: Darren Lutz, President and Creative Director of Balance Studios, ranks right up there with Mel Gibson. That’s because he is the proud recipient of the same award that Gibson received last year for “The Passion of the Christ”. Lutz received two Unity Awards that were presented by the United Catholic Music & Video Association (UCMVA) on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the O’Shaughnessy Theatre in St. Paul, Minnesota. Like Gibson, Lutz won “Video Producer of the Year” for “Like a Train”, a music video he produced and directed for Ceili Rain, an International Irish Rock Band. Lutz and Executive Producer, Tina Lutz, took a more literal approach and chose to shoot the video at Green Bay’s National Railroad Museum, a setting that was a perfect compliment to the metaphoric song. Their choice and work paid off because the video also won “ Music Video of the Year”.

Balance Studios began working with Ceili Rain in September 2001 when Bob Halligan, Jr., the band’s lead singer commissioned them to redefine their entire visual presence in the marketplace. The transformation was initiated with a new website and web log or “blog” and was followed by four music videos (three of them shot in Ireland) and a DVD Anthology that was released earlier this year. Ceili Rain was founded in 1991 and tours internationally with a unique blend of rock’n’roll and Celtic flavors, a sound that is exciting, danceable, joyous and musically unique. The band is currently wrapping up year’s tour but they made sure Titletown was on their map. Ceili Rain helped Balance Studios kick off their “First Annual Half-Way to St. Patrick’s Day” Celebration that was held on October 15, 2005 at the Sports Corner in De Pere.

Darren and Tina Lutz established Balance Studios in Green Bay in 2001. The company specializes in animation, advanced interactive media, special effects, and broadcast productions. Some of their clients include: OCP/Spirit and Song, Screen Magazine-Chicago, The Karma Group-Green Bay, and Lindsay, Stone & Briggs-Madison. They are located at 1263 Main St., Suite 212 in the Main Street

On My Own, The Movie

Monday, November 28th, 2005

Rockline Industries is rolling out their “On My Own” product line of flushable kid wipes! Designed to help kids through the process of toilet training, Rockline wanted to present the “On My Own” product on their web site in a fashion that’s more fun and less formal than some of their other items. So they turned to Balance Studios for direction and animation of the “On My Own” Monkey character from their product packaging. Animator Steve Dorchester of Balance brought the little fella to life! Very soon this happy monkey will be set loose to swing free within the Rockline corporate Web site.

Balance Has Grown!

Sunday, November 27th, 2005

All of us at Balance would like to holler out a big ol’ HOWDY-HEY to Kerry Geocaris who has joined the Balance team as Project Coordinator.

At a very young age, Kerry was born right here in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Broadcast & Communications and Spanish, and worked for quatro años as a news producer before venturing into the arena of Media and Public Relations with the Milwaukee Public School System. She eventually transferred her talents up to Bellin Health, which brought her back to the Green Bay area where she now lives with her husband, Brad, and son, Elliot.

“Kerry is a fantastic addition to Balance,” says Balance co-founder Tina Lutz. “Her project management skills, combined with her enthusiasm and contagious personality will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our internal processes.”

Welcome Kerry!

Hallways of Always

Sunday, November 27th, 2005

On the heels of their award-winning music video “Like a Train”, Balance Studios follows-up with the release of another world premiere video for International Irish Rock band Ceili Rain. Spirit and Song, a division of Oregon Catholic Press, sent Balance Studios to shoot the band on location in Ireland.

”Hallways” was shot in a “run-and-gun” fashion, capturing footage of band members performing in dozens of outdoor, historic locations — ranging from Galway and Killarney to the remote village of Tulley Cross. Compensating for ever-changing weather and daylight conditions while scouting fascinating points of interest within remote regions of a foreign land was a major project for just two individuals from Balance (two individuals with a Celtic rock band and the works squeezed into the back of their cozy rental car, dubbed ‘The Sweet Dan Dooley’) — but this was an unforgettable endeavor that yielded beautiful results.
