epicsoft’s MULE™ Network-rendering Solution

Tuesday, April 19th, 2005

If you are a LightWave® 3-D or Video Toaster™ user we encourage you to browse through the MULE™ Web site to get informed about how drastically this tool can open up the flow and quality of your rendered output.

MULE™ is the premiere tool for rendering LightWave® content over a network of computers.

The MULESERVER™ runs independently from your LW environment, so you can continue working while you render over your network. MULE™ will efficiently manage the process of distributing and collecting rendered frames while allowing you to have real-time control over the process.

You can view frames as they render with the MULEVIEWER™, or even playback animation as it renders. SCENE-Q™ controls give you responsive management of your projects-to-be-rendered. Send specific frames to specific system groupings with SMARTGROUPS™.

Use alpha channels, split frames into multiple segments, use a variety of image formats — knock yourself out! MULE™ will provide you with render freedom that you may never have known was possible.

Our friends at epicsoft have unveiled the new “MULEblog” — http://www.epicsoft.net/muleblog — an impending showcase and information resource revolving around their latest solution for enhancing the business of creativity — MULE™

MULE™ is a powerful tool for rendering Lightwave® frames across a network of systems. At last, Lightwave network rendering is a reliable, speedy, affordable reality! MULE™ manages and distributes the workload for optimum use of all your available CPU power. And at the same time you have full control and view of the rendering progress. Alerts keep you informed of glitches or dropped frames that may occur, right when they occur. Features such as frame-splitting and the frame viewer make MULE™ a truly robust utility.

Balance Studios has been using MULE™ for a long time with wonderful results, and we couldn’t work without it! We’re looking forward to watching the MULEblog evolve into a valuable Web community resource worthy of its namesake — MULE™.

You Want to Build an Application with Flash and ASP.NET?!

Wednesday, February 9th, 2005

ASP.NET and Flash. Microsoft and Macromedia. Strangers in the same land! But now epic Flash Control (another productivity solution from epicsoft) bridges the gap.

Ryan Moore, a Certified Macromedia Developer and Technical Director for epicsoft, recognized the general lapse in crossover knowledge amongst developers working in the Flash platform and developers working with the technologies of ASP.NET. Yet rather than waiting for those two glaciers to converge on their own, Ryan and the team at epicsoft jumped ahead and created THE solution for embedding Flash objects into ASP.NET projects.

Now it’s extremely practical to employ the strengths and assets unique to Macromedia Flash in complete coordination with the specialties of a Microsoft ASP.NET environment — and within a single business application! Time is saved and functionality is gained with one elegant stroke: epic Flash Control.

As a tool in your Visual Studio toolbox, it’s as easy as dragging and dropping the control onto your ASP.NET web page and going to work! By using the epic Flash Control, embedded Flash resources can be easily created, controlled and manipulated directly through your .NET code.

Ryan is literally writing the book on the subject of Flash & ASP.NET, and through his leadership, it is epicsoft’s mission to create useful and practical tools for enhancing the business of creativity.

Most Useful Lightwave Enhancement Ever?

Tuesday, September 14th, 2004

MULE is a network-rendering tool that enables you to render Lightwave® 3D animations or single frames across multiple computers. Gone are the days of being locked out of your animation system when rendering your projects.

MULE allows you to completely control the rendering process — such as determining how many frames should go to which particular systems in your network. MULE’s intuitive design alerts you of any interruption or flaws in the renderings and allows you to view the progress. If one system finishes its render and there are still more that need to be processed, MULE sends those unfinished frames to other available systems. All of this leads to efficiency and faster project turnaround times, which equals more profit!

At epicsoft, Inc., enthusiasm for MULE is contagious — it’s the latest tool they’ve designed to advance the business of creativity — and Balance Studios has used the product with great success.

Urban legend says the name MULE is derived from “Most Useful Lightwave-enhancement Ever“. Even though that isn’t actually the origin, if the shoe fits… !

You be the judge.
